Polls

Teachers can add polls to their assignments to activate prior knowledge and engage students at the start of a lesson. Polls can only be done before students read articles and take quizzes.

When a teacher views any text-based article, they will see a poll at the top. If they’d like their students to complete the poll, they can click “Assign poll” to include it in a Newsela assignment. They can click “See more polls” to choose from other question options to provide their students.

Students will see the poll on any article assigned to them where the teacher has opted to include the poll. After they vote, they’ll see class-wide results once they submit their own response. The class-wide results will update every second without needing to refresh the page.

Teachers can see the results of the poll by going back to the assignment and clicking on the article they had assigned.
