Technical Requirements

At Newsela, we try to ensure that our platform is available to as wide a range of technologies as possible. To keep the quality of our products high, we do have some technical requirements that need to be met in order to use the software to its fullest extent.

In order to properly use any of our applications, we require that your network allow access to *.newsela.com. This allows us to properly serve all Newsela content; in the event that you are experiencing issues with an application, please confirm with your network administrator that they've opened access to *.newsela.com.

Additionally, to ensure access to our paid subscription support features, please make sure drive-shares-dm-noreply@google.com and
noreply@google.com are also accessible on your network. 



We support the following browsers for mobile and desktop usage of newsela.com:

  • Mozilla Firefox: Latest

  • Microsoft Edge: Latest

  • Opera: Latest

  • Safari: 11+

If you are using a browser that is not on this supported list, we cannot guarantee that all features of Newsela will function properly. Both for security and functionality concerns, we highly recommend that you choose a browser in this list.

We currently support iOS 11 and greater. 

We currently support Android 10 and greater for students.

Some devices with less processing power struggle to support the Newsela app. Contact us if your device is up-to-date, but your student can't log in.
